VA4D-3 Restoration Modeling & Typology Reporting

Restoration Modeling & Typology Reporting

Restoration modeling and typology reporting involves cataloging and measuring unit and condition types within heritage structures. We provide spreadsheets, setting drawings, takeoffs, unit models, and drawings to support pricing and manufacturing processes. This service helps building owners, design teams, contractors, and manufacturers better understand the geometric complexity of their projects. In many cases, it can also eliminate or reduce the costs associated with scaffolding and other physical access methods.

“Vertical Access proved the perfect partner for a complex preservation project involving the 3D modeling of badly deteriorated, carved stone ornaments on our National Historic Landmark building. The modeling process was equal parts art and science, and allowed us to come as close as humanly possible to replicating the original form of the carvings.”

“Vertical Access worked both efficiently and collaboratively with the project team, and delivered high quality results in a timely fashion. I would recommend them without reservation.”

“We had 2 weeks to document the 100 year old Great Stained Glass Window of the Missouri State Capitol for structural analysis prior to it being removed and taken off site for restoration. The quality of their services went above and beyond the Design Team and Owner’s expectations.”

“VA provided a variety of file types for different members of our extensive project team to work with, including the structural engineer, stained glass conservator, and restoration studio.”
“Their work allowed the State to have detailed record documentation of existing conditions and have a base line for tracking future damage, assess deflection, and have a record of the restoration work completed. Without the quick responses from Vertical Access both before and after completion of the restoration, this detailed information would have been lost.”

“Vertical Access acted quickly and efficiently, working through detailed meetings to ensure we received the appropriate deliverable for our client. The 3D scanning was instrumental in documenting a critical schedule and structural item for the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse project.”
“Vertical Access provided a level of documentation for the deteriorated brackets that would not have been possible through any other method. The level of detail captured in the scans revealed pitting and section loss, which was essential for the structural engineer to determine how to proceed with repairs on these vital elements.”

“Vertical Access has been an integral part of my workflow on complex architectural stone replacement projects for years. They gain a very fast understanding of the scope of work and see problems before they happen.”

“From coordinating field data, including dimensions, photos, and laser scans, to the creation of thoroughly detailed 3D models for CNC, the quality of their work is exceptional.”

“Our ability to complete several world class projects, quite literally, could not have been done without them.”
