The Thompson Center

Chicago, IL

The Thompson Center was designed by Helmut Jahn and completed in 1985. Magnificent open offices wind around a 160-foot rotunda with atrium and glass ceiling reaching 16 floors above the main roof. The façade is comprised of 24,600 separate panes of glass mounted on steel space frame structure enclosing a massive 1.2 million square feet.

Scope of work

  • Assisted with a thorough hands-on inspection of the rotunda walls, roof and curving setback walls for compliance with the City of Chicago façade inspection ordinance.
